After an in-depth study of Work in the OT and NT, Dr. Sajan Mathews defined work as follows: "Work is God-given, God-enabled, and God-blessed. Apart from God, work or no work is futile, meaningless, toilsome, and can even be harmful. Work that is God-originated, God-dependent, in keeping with God’s word, God-oriented, and God-glorifying is pleasing to God and blessed by God. Such workers and work enter eternity with God, and the worker works for God and with God forever and ever."
